Stinger IE268 radio: How to Remove the Metal Mounting Sleeve

Before installing the Stinger IE268 radio, remove the metal mounting sleeve.

Applicable part numbers: STGCD641DDB, STGCD651DDB, STG-CHA68, STG-FMK542RPDDB, STG-GM4101, STG-TOYK973, STH68FD, STH68GM11, STH68GM31, STH68JK, STH68TAC, STH68TUN

1. Release Locking Tabs: Using a panel tool, hook tool, or flat-blade screwdriver, pull out on the locking tab on each side of the sleeve to release it from the radio. As you release it, slide the sleeve towards the back of the radio (Figure 1).
2. Slide to Release: Keep pressure on the sleeve towards the back of the radio to keep it released, then work on the other side. Pro-tip: Keep your tool inserted in the released tab to hold it open while you work on the other side.
3. Remove Sleeve: Slide the sleeve towards the back of the radio to fully remove it (Figure 2).

Note: The sleeve may offer some resistance due to plastic on the radio—this is normal.

4. Final Steps: Once removed, peel away the clear plastic film from the radio and discard the metal sleeve; it is not required for this installation.
