IE268: How to update the firmware

This article explains how to update the firmware on the Stinger IE268 radio and links to the current firmware download.

Update the firmware

To update the IE268, prepare a USB drive with the firmware files, then run the update from the radio's Installer settings:

1. Download the firmware ZIP file from the Current firmware section below.
2. Unzip the firmware file, then open the subfolder inside it. It contains three items: the update folder, the ISPBOOT.BIN file and the model file.

3. Format a USB drive to FAT32.

   Note: Use a name-brand USB 2.0 drive that is no larger than 32 GB. Formatting erases everything on the drive, so back up any files you want to keep first.

4. Copy all three items to the root of the USB drive. The USB drive should contain the following:

   

5. Turn on the radio, then insert the USB drive into the radio's USB port.

   Note: Depending on the installation kit used, the USB port may be mounted on the dashboard. Otherwise, the USB port is on the back of the radio.

6. On the radio, go to Settings / Installer / Update Firmware to start the firmware update. The Installer settings icon shows a wrench and screwdriver. The update takes about 2–3 minutes.

   Warning: Do not turn off the radio or remove the USB drive until the update is complete. Interrupting the update can cause it to fail.

7. After the update is complete, go to Settings / Installer / Factory Reset to perform a factory reset. This wipes the radio and clears out any remnants of the previous firmware.
8. Test the radio to make sure everything is working correctly.
